On July 11, the very first edition of the Jonathan Huberdeau Golf Tournament was held at the Mirage Golf Club, organized by the Cité de la Santé Foundation. Presented by Knapper and RBC Wealth Management, in collaboration with Ford Terrebonne and National Bank, the tournament was a resounding success: 148 golfers, a splendid day and above all, an impressive net amount of $215,750, including Jonathan’s personal donation. Huberdeau ($25,000, announced last June 21) for the improvement of care and services offered to people with cancer and treated in Laval.
The day was punctuated by highlights, including the many gourmet stops offered by our generous sponsors, the “Hole in One” contest presented by RBC Insurance as well as the approach shot contest between Louis-Jean Cormier, Michel Bergeron, Jonathan Huberdeau and Patrick Lalime. The winner of the contest, Louis-Jean Cormier, thus raised more than $4,600 for the Foundation (the winner of the 50/50 draw having donated the amount he had won).
The evening continued with many distinguished guests who joined the participants, including the CEO of the CISSS de Laval, Mr. Jean-Philippe Cotton, the Mayor of Laval, Stéphane Boyer, several federal, provincial and municipal elected officials, all like many doctors and employees of the CISSS de Laval. The auction, graciously hosted by Jean-Charles Lajoie, smashed the organizers’ objective and was even enhanced by a wonderful performance of the national anthem by Josiane Huberdeau, the famous hockey player’s sister. Also, Jonathan generated a surprise by buying, with the complicity of RBC, a box at the Bell Center for a Panthers-Canadiens game which he gave to the Foundation to offer to employees of the Hôpital de la Cité- of-Health. Moments of great intensity!
These funds will be dedicated to the Laval Cancer Program to finance research, the acquisition of medical equipment and the improvement of patient care. The Foundation would like to warmly thank everyone present at the event, the sponsors and partners, the volunteers and above all, our ambassador for this tournament: Jonathan Huberdeau
