Jonathan Huberdeau Tournament: $314,000 to support the creation of a center of expertise in child abuse for victims of serious neglect

The third edition of the Jonathan Huberdeau Golf Tournament, organized by the Cité de la Santé Foundation, brought together 288 golfers who together raised $314,000 to support the establishment of a center of expertise in child abuse for victims of severe neglect, physical and sexual abuse.

Presented by Marché 440 and Desjardins Entreprises, in collaboration with National Bank, Psycho Bunny, Terrebonne Ford and Marival Resorts, the annual event at Golf Le Mirage was once again a record success.

Our commitment: Financing the well-being of children in Laval

In Laval, 13 cases of child abuse are reported every day. In fact, in 2022-2023, the Direction de la protection de la jeunesse de Laval (DPJ) handled no fewer than 4,825 reports, representing an increase of approximately 2% over the previous year*.

Ms. Sabrina Martineau, coordinator of services for the Direction de la protection de la jeunesse, also gave a moving speech, evoking the situation of vulnerable young people in Laval and speaking of the pressing needs to better address the issues involved.

Last year, the Tournament raised a record $296,500, to which Jonathan Huberdeau's annual donation of $50,000 was added. This increase demonstrates the collective awareness and growing interest of the Laval population in supporting its CISSS de Laval. In view of the challenges we face and the growing needs in health and social services, the support of individuals and companies remains essential if we are to continue to offer quality care and services, while constantly innovating for the benefit of the Laval community.

A number of personalities from the sporting, cultural and political worlds were involved in the event. In addition to Jonathan Huberdeau, they included Jean-Charles Lajoie, Maude-Aimée Leblanc, Mathieu and Pierre-Olivier Joseph, Jakob Pelletier and many others.

The Foundation warmly thanks the generous and exceptional contribution of its organizing committee, sponsors, donors and volunteers, and reminds everyone that it's in everyone's interest to support the CISSS de Laval, because we all win when it comes to health and social services.
