Acquisition of 8 mother-controlled epidural infusion pumps during labour and delivery

Acquisition of 8 mother-controlled epidural infusion pumps during labour and delivery
Scientific research and technological development in anesthesiology have led to changes in the field of epidurals in recent years. Recent results provide mothers with optimal relief technology during the active phases of labour and delivery, while significantly reducing the side effects associated with the use of epidurals for them and their newborns, when they choose this method of pain relief.

The CISSS Services de périnatalité et de pédiatrie would like to purchase 8 patient-controlled epidural infusion pumps in order to introduce an updated method of pain relief during labour and delivery into its practices. This method now meets best practices for the use of epidurals in obstetrics. We believe it is essential to acquire it to better meet the needs of mothers who want this type of relief and thus improve their satisfaction during labour and delivery.

Why donate?

  • Better pain relief
  • Increased satisfaction for the labouring mother
  • Decreased motor blocks (better mobility for changes of position and movements)
  • Decrease in assisted vaginal births (forceps and suction cups) and decrease of possible implications for mothers and their newborns
  • Decrease in the amount of medication administered (opioid analgesia)
  • Decrease in side effects related to opioid administration to mothers and newborns at birth
